New firmware and lens distortion data for D7100 and D7000

Nikon launched firmware updates for the D7100 and D7000 on 26th August 2014. The updates enable support for Lens Distortion Data version 2.0.

Notes:

You need to update to the latest firmware to be able to install the latest lens distortion data.

The following 2 items caught me out – so please take note……

  1. After you’ve installed the latest firmware, please delete the bin file from the SD card before trying to load the lens distortion data. The D7x00 will not see the Lens Distortion bin file if the firmware files exist on the card.
  2. Once you’ve run the Lens Distortion Data EXE, a folder called Nikon will exist on your desktop with the bin file inside it. Note that the software doesn’t tell you where its extracted the files too! This article tells you about it though.
